When to Apply Each
Sealants are typically placed on permanent molars as they erupt (around ages 6 and 12) and can last 5–10 years with proper care. Fluoride varnish is applied at every cleaning visit and is safe and effective for kids of all ages — and adults too, especially those with a history of cavities.
